Apply for an allotment plot

Waiting list times

The typical waiting time is less than one year.

Expectations of having an allotment

Allotments are rewarding but they are hard work. Plots are often in a neglected condition when you take them on and are unlikely to have been worked on for at least one month. The hardest work is the first few months and you are expected to make visible progress within this time.

The amount of time you need to spend maintaining your plot depends on how large it is. We recommend novice gardeners or those with very busy lifestyles to start with a smaller plot. You can expect to spend from 2-5 hours per week in the growing season of April to September.

Our Site

You can find all the details of the Grosvenor Road Allotment site and its facilities on our dedicated Our Site page.

Benefits while on the waiting list

Access to the Trading Hut

As a waiting list member you can make use of the site shop to stock up on supplies for your home garden. The Trading Hut has become the focal point for many activities on site over recent years. You’ll always find a bunch of plot holders and members there on a Sunday morning buying composts and fertilisers, or simply socialising. We have a range of products on sale and we ensure the prices are always competitive. Good horticultural advice is also in abundance.

Pop in and say hello to our lovely volunteers who are always happy to help.

See the Trading Hut page for full details

Social events

You are welcome to join our social events as a waiting list member as a way to get to know the plot holders and see how the site runs.

See our What’s On page for full details.
