We’re thrilled to announce that Jayne Slim has been co-opted to be on the SHAS committee. We still have one position open on the committee at present, if you are interested please see the Join the committee page
A note from Jayne:
I’ve been involved with SHAS since November 2020 when my husband became a plot holder. I can usually be seen with a strimmer in hand, picking fruit, planting onions or potatoes, and generally keeping the plot tidy (or at least trying to – does anybody else hate horsetails and bindweed?)
As a family we enjoy eating our produce which tastes so much better than shop purchased items plus has less than a food mile per item. We’ve refined what we grow over the years based on experience and what we enjoy, plus we’re working on having all year around crops.
Our son ensured that we planted bee-friendly flowers and dug a pond. We know from our home pond that having frogs reduces the amount of slugs & snails.
I’m really looking forward to working with the committee and ensuring the allotments continue to thrive for all of us.I’ve got a background in project and supply chain leadership and was co-chair of a school PTA, so this is an exciting time for me. I’m hoping to translate these experiences to working with the committee and helping to shape SHAS’s future plans.
