  • Biodiversity grant awarded

The committee can proudly announce that we have been awarded a grant to improve biodiversity on the Grosvenor Road allotment site.

  • Water turned back on

The water for the whole site has been turned back on for the growing season. Please use water responsibly, we are on a water meter and we should be careful with our resources. Ensure taps are turned off and do not leave filling water butts unattended.

  • Help to clean up branches

Members of the project task group have been undertaking work to make vacant plots more attractive to potential plot holders. We need your help to dispose of tree prunings which are in the middle manure bay, up from the middle gate.

  • Litter picking around the allotment

We have a long boundary fence to Grosvenor Road and onto Glebelands Road that collects a lot of litter. If you want to help us keep this clean and tidy you can sign up to the Trafford Council Be Responsible pledge and receive a free litter picker and special bin bags to collect rubbish.

  • No dumping items in manure bays

This is a reminder that all the manure bays on site are for collection of mulching materials only and are not for dumping unwanted items or waste from your plot.

  • New bench installed

The beautiful new bench donated to commemorate former plot holder Sarah Wilson is now in place outside the Hoe Down. Click the title to see photos.

  • Padlocks getting jammed

When using the padlocks on the gates, especially the middle gate, make sure the clasp is firmly pushed down into the padlock before locking. If you don’t engage the clasp properly the padlock can jam and seize up causing access problems for others.

  • Double check taps are off

A plot was flooded overnight because a tap had been left on, overflowing the trough and wasting unknown litres of water during a drought. This is not acceptable. Always double check you have turned off the taps before you leave the site.

  • Notice of plot inspections

The scheduled plot inspections will be taking place at some point in September by the Plot Manager (Rosemary) and the Committee Chair (Louise).  Plot holders facing challenges managing their plots due to personal circumstances are encouraged to reach out. You can find information about the notices and evictions procedure on the Maintaining your allotment plot…

  • New bench donated to site

Over the coming weeks you may spot a new bench on site. We’re honoured that the family of a late plot holder has requested to install a bench for allotment community use in her memory. We know that the bench will be well cared for by our membership.
